Ric Collen

Ric is the founder of the Harvest Clinic and is a Clinical Psychologist and Board-approved Supervisor with 13 years of experience. Ric has experience working with individuals of all ages including adults, couples, children & adolescents and has been trained several evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT).

 

Ric has gravitated towards a predominantly ACT-based approach and has supervised and trained many counsellors and psychologists in this approach. Rather than focussing on helping people feel better, Ric's approach is centred on encouraging people to live with greater intent; focussing on increasing clarity on values and consistency in pursuing them.

Ric is also trained in couples therapy and has completed Levels 1, 2 & 3 training in the Gottman method. From this foundation he incorporates ACT based principles to assist couples to become aware of their hooks and triggers, while being perceptive of their collective values, and increasing their capacity to pursue these, even in the presence of difficult emotions and thoughts.

As a therapist, Ric adopts a personable and straightforward approach. As a past clinical director at a QLD-based Health Retreat, Ric highly values adopting a holistic perspective to mental health that incorporates adequate nutrition, rest, movement, and hydration. 

 

Ric oversees the operation of the Harvest Clinic and aims to create a clinic where excellence is affordable. His mission is to bring together a team of therapists who are genuine, caring and skilled. A team that sees the value of working with clients at the root level, to create an abundant harvest at the fruit level.
